‘Cz Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara

‘Cz Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara

Are we living or dead? OK, if we are living, are we actually alive?? Well, in case you are confused or looking for an appropriate answer, take a look:

‘Dilon me apni betabiyaan liye chal rahe ho to zinda ho tum, nazron me khwabon ki bijliyan liye chal rahe to zinda ho tum… hawa ke jhokon ke jaise azaad rehna seekho, tum ek dariya ke jaise lehron me behna seekho… har ek lamhe se milo khole apni baahen, har ek pal ek naya sama, dekhe yeh nigaahein… dilon me apni betabiyan liye chal rahe ho to zinda ho tum…!!!’

A still from ZNMD

Well, forgive me again for bringing in cheesy bollywood dialogues amid my flow of thoughts but still, think again. Don’t these lines from the evergreen Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara reflect the true essence of living? Don’t they actually push us to live our life more vibrantly, with more exuberance? There have been a plethora of articles, novels, talks, seminars and movies on the basic essence of living and I don’t assure of any exclusivity here either, but still, just think!

OK, let’s just remember when was the last time that anyone of us had the most spontaneous and real round of laughter without the artificial plastic smiles pasted on our numb faces? When was the last time that anyone of here actually enjoyed just a single day to its utmost spirit? Or when was the last time that none of us actually cared about the million other trifle things in our lives and just lived the day fully? Those who have the silent memories flickering up in their heads after reading these questions, are actually living their lives. The rest however, are just swaying in the flow of life. But then I read somewhere:

‘Only the dead fish sways with the flow of the river!’

Are we so dead so as to surrender? Is not a single drop of life left in us? Or, are we so busy in making the future plans that we have forgotten to live our present? They say medical science has worked up the ways to increase the average life span of the humans. OK, very well done, agreed. But hasn’t we as individuals decreased our actual life spans in the race of life? I mean who cares if you lived for 100 years or 45 years? What counts is how much of it you actually lived!

‘Babu Mushoy, Zindagi Badi honi chahiye, lambi nahi…!!’

So, here we have another cheesy line from another bollywood flick, ‘Anand’ that gave the simple philosophy of life in few words. This is what I discussed a couple of lines ago. As discussed above, medical science has worked up the ways to increase the average human life span and most of the busy individuals (so busy in making dollars that they have forgotten to live) will be able to increase their life span too, with these medical services and might even end up living a 100 years! OK, fine but what then? What’s the point of living a 100 years when in your last times, over your death bed, you don’t have any memories that can bring a smile on your face?  What’s the point of having a million dollars in your bank if you can’t spend a single dollar to buy happiness and internal peace?

‘We live as if we’ll never die, and we die as if we never lived!’

I mean yeah, actually! We ignore most of the moments in the life in chasing our dreams and planning better future. We take our loved ones, our happiness and even our lives for granted! I mean, are you sure that you’ll wake up tomorrow, when you sleep today? Are you sure of another sunrise tomorrow when the sunsets today? What if there is no sunrise tomorrow? What if you never wake up from your eternal sleep? What if you are gone forever? Will all these hustle and bustle of the daily life count then? OK just answer a few questions: What’s the point of owing a BMW, if you have no one to sit beside you, caress you while you drive? What’s the point of being able to buy the oldest of champagne if your liver and doctors don’t allow you to savor it? What’s the point of owing the ‘Kohinnor’ if you have nobody to gift it to? Or to hell with everything, what’s even the point of eternity if you have nothing to actually live for????

How many of us have actually dared to confess our love for anyone??? Not just the crushes but how many of us have actually had a few healthy, happy and cherishing moments with our friends and family? How many of us have actually told our father, mother or siblings of how much we love them, other than on their birthdays, anniversaries or special days of fathers’, mothers’ days? I guess, rarely anyone! The same thing again! Taken for granted attitude as ever!

And how many of us are clear of any sort of grudge for anyone? Think twice before you answer this one because this is actually impossible! Somewhere or another we have untold grudges and secrets that we never dare to speak up, but that silently damage us from the insides. Just imagine, what if the person that you are ignoring or holding grudges towards today, never wakes up tomorrow? How would you feel? So friends, life is really too short to not tell people how you feel about them or to hold grudges for anyone. Tell your loved ones that you love them and forgive those that you have grudges towards and it will make you a lot more of a better and relieved person. Continuing the bollywood trend, have a look at another line:

‘Mai udna chahta hoon, dodna chahta hoon, girna bhi cahta hoon… bas rukna nahi chahta!’

No doughnuts for guessing the movie name here. But then a simple dialogue again explains the theory of living in simpler words. For some people, life is so boring and so lethargic that they are fed up of it. For them, life is all about failures and broken dreams. Why? ‘We are too old to follow our dreams!’ Ahem, ahem! We all know and love our very own ‘Virus’ aka Boman Irani, don’t we? There are no second thoughts about his credibility as an actor or his success in the industry. Well, he began his acting career in the year 2000, at the age of 41. Oh O Oh, quite an oldies’ age, isn’t it? There are other countless examples who achieved what they wanted at a pretty old age. So guys, it isn’t about the age, it’s all about the determination to achieve.

Furthermore here is a simple request to all. Just live your life. We are humans and so we should behave like one. Why waste a wholesome opportunity of life in leading a dull, robotic life guys? So, go out and live your dreams, seize the moments and make memories! Going on a tracking trip in the isolated Himalyas won’t make your life shorter, try it once! A healthy and casual flirting with a beautiful someone won’t kill you either! Enjoying your wildness with your friends and acting weird for a day won’t actually lead you insane and proposing your crush or asking them on a small date won’t end your life either. You only live once, so make the most of it! Let’s all have a bunch of memories like a movie on DVD to play when we are on our deathbeds, so as to leave this world, with a smile. So, enjoy the life guys and live every moment, for nobody knows what tomorrow beholds! A li’l dose of madness is essential and it’ll make a lot of us smile! So, bidding you goodbye here, with all my thoughts packed in few lines and hoping to see a change in our otherwise boring lives:

‘Aaj… Aaj ek hasi aur baant loon, aaj ek dua aur maang loon! Aaj ek aansu aur pee loon…aaj ek zindagi aur jee loon…!! Aaj ek sapna aur dekh loon... Aaj… kya pata, Kal ho na ho!!’

Yeah, sorry again for cheesy SRK lines :p :p!! Happy living, bye!
