Expectations: 01
Expectations..
So here is the situation...
A boy has a train to board which is going to depart at 9:10 PM. In order to catch his train he needs to leave home early by 7:30 PM and catch a bus (with no information about the frequency or timings of this bus, not even the officials at bust stop know the timings) from 3 KM away which takes minimum 40 minutes to reach the railway station. If he follows these timings he will catch train safely with good margin between his arrival and train's departure timings.
The boy's mom went out to attend a caste society festive celebration as it is the day of dussehra. Here the boy does not expects his mom to stop for him at home and not go for the festive celebration party.
Boy is supposed to pickup mom at 7 PM from a place which takes approx 10 min to reach. If the boy picks mom and comes straight back to home he will be home by 7:10 pm and he can easily leave by 7:30 PM
Boy reaches the place of pickup, picks up mom and is about to start his scooter, when mom says "Hey, stop by the cloth shop in our way, I want to clear up the balance money which we were supposed to give to that shopkeeper" (It's just that this family buy clothes and stuff from that shop without giving money and the shopkeeper keeps a balance sheet of that, so mom needed to clear that balance)
Now the main part comes:
As this boy has already brought mom to this shop before many times, he knows that mom will not just give the remaining debt amount to the shopkeeper and come back. She will go to the shop, will ask the shop keeper as if there is some new stuff for diwali has arrived on the shop or not? Or if she had asked shopkeeper to bring something from bigger wholesale market, has he brought that or not?
But as this time it was different, the boy expected his mom to not sit usually and just give the money and come back. He expects his mom to know it's important for the boy to catch this train and she should not sit there.
Boy decides even if his Mom stops, as usual, he won't say anything (he knows it wouldn't hurt to tell her to hurry up politely but still).
Mom goes to the shop and stops there as usual. Boy stays calm and stands outside the shop patiently waiting for her to come back soon.
She comes back at 7:30 PM from the shop.🙂
The boy gives a cute smile to his mom, tells her to sit on the scooter carefully and takes her home in normal speed.
The boy reaches home by 7:40 pm leaves by 7:45 pm and catches the bus at 7:55 PM luckily and boards the train at 8:45 PM
Can you guys tell, what else this story could have been, from what point and why?
Were the expectations of boy right?
Did the boy made the right decision to not speak up?
What mom did, was it right?
